Why the name "Garden City Food Forest?"
I've been gardening for 46 years in the Pacific Northwest and haven't slowed down yet. Although I've spent most of my life in the legal and/or medical arena, my dream job my entire life was to simply "sell plants." When the sun was shining outside, I wanted to play in my garden. I eventually took the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom for awhile so I could homeschool my youngest child. While in that transition, I felt motivated to open my own shop "Garden City Food Forest" to finally and simply..."sell plants" ☺️.
Why the name "Garden City Food Forest?" While playing outside on our property, my youngest child said, "It's a garden city" because of all the food-producing trees and plants; and whenever he wanted to play outside, he'd say, "Let's go to Garden City." So there you have it...from the mouth of a child 😏. I could not have described our organic permaculture food forest any better.
Many years ago, we had our food forest certified as a Backyard Wildlife Sanctuary. Although I am skittish around the ferrets, raccoons, coyotes and garder snakes, I am pleased to see a plethora of deer, opossums, foxes, coyotes, owls, hawks, rabbits, squirrels, salamanders, praying mantis, blue jays, robins, ladybugs 🐞, hummingbirds, butterflies & moths, carpenter bees, bumblebees, and many, many other pollinators, animals and plants that mysteriously appeared: I guess "If you build it, they will come" is true. I give ALL praises to The Prime Creator!
